Experimental Investigations on the Tensile Mechanical Behavior of HDPE Geocell Strip

Geocells are commonly adopted in various engineering constructions, such as railways and ports. Currently, the reinforcement effects mechanisms of geocells is being widely studied, while limited studies have been performed on mechanical behavior geocell strips. Uncertainties regarding their performance impeded wide application fields. In this paper, a series tensile tests trapezoidal were high-density polyethylene (HDPE) The specimen shape, width, welding junction HDPE strips investigated. Additionally, results test also compared. showed that strength strip was less affected by shape within 5%. However, elongation sensitive to difference between type I dumbbell II rectangular up 38%. effect cannot be ignored, retention rate 76.3%. curve similar test, force 0.87 times test. can provide reference for testing structural design.
